ARLINGTON, Texas – UT Arlington men’s basketball coach Scott Cross signed Round Rock native Tim Holland to a National Letter of Intent.
Holland, a 6-8 forward who will join the Mavericks next year as a true freshman, is currently a senior at Cedar Ridge High School. He is ranked as the No. 22 player in the state of Texas, according to Texas Basketball Review, and averaged 17 points, seven rebounds and two blocks per game over the last two seasons. He plays for Coach Quinton Black at Cedar Ridge and is a 2-time all-district selection.
“Tim reminds me of ex-UT Arlington Maverick Brandon Edwards, which is a huge compliment because Brandon is second in career rebounding at UTA and was an all-conference player in the Sun Belt,” said Cross. “Tim is one of the most explosive basketball players I watched last summer. He will be awesome on the pick-and-roll and should be a monster on the glass.”
Holland is the first of four expected signees for the UTA men’s basketball program, which is selected by league coaches as the preseason favorite to win the Sun Belt Conference. The Mavericks have advanced to the postseason three times in the last five seasons and won a program-high 24 games twice during that period.
